Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) is a diversified, integrated energy major with a presence in almost all the streams of oil, gas, petrochemicals, and alternative energy sources. IOCL is actively engaged in a gamut of social welfare activities across the nation. The company spent Rs. 460.37 crores on its CSR initiatives in the last financial year, with key thrust areas being safe drinking water and protection of water resources, healthcare and sanitation, education and employment-enhancing vocational skills, and empowerment of women and socially/economically backward groups.

IOCL’s CSR policy aims to improve the quality of life of local communities residing in the vicinity of its establishments and the society at large, operating its activities in an efficient, safe, and ethical manner that minimizes negative impact on the environment and enhances the quality of life of communities, thereby fulfilling its mission of sustaining a holistic business.
In the FY 2020-21, IOCL was the second-highest spender for CSR in Odisha, with a total expenditure of Rs. 40.37 crores. The company’s CSR initiatives have benefitted over 123 lakh people in the country.

Support to set up Covid Care Centre and 100-bed facility Covid-19 Hospital at Medical College & Hospital (MCH) building of District Headquarter Hospital (DHH), Bargarh, Odisha.
Spending towards ICT Mumbai Indian Oil Odisha Campus, Bhubaneswar. IOCL collaborated with the Institute of Chemical Technology, Mumbai, to set up an off-campus of the institute at Bhubaneswar, named ICT Mumbai Indian Oil Odisha Campus, Bhubaneswar. The campus aims to evolve into an R&D/innovation hub to carry out high-end research in chemical engineering, petrochemicals, textiles, pharmaceuticals, and energy.
Spending towards Skill Development Institute, Bhubaneswar. IOCL has set up the Skill Development Institute, Bhubaneswar (SDI-B), in a temporary campus, with an aim to provide livelihood-enhancing skill development training to unemployed and underprivileged youth. The SDI main campus is being developed as a mega-world-class, model skill development academy at Jatni Tehsil of Khurda, near IIT Bhubaneswar. In 2020-21, about 251 youths were skilled and certified.
‘IndianOil Vidushi’ CSR programme, started in 2018. Under this CSR initiative, specialised coaching and mentoring is provided to underprivileged girls after class XII, to help them succeed in JEE Mains, JEE Advanced, and other Central and State Engineering College Entrance Examinations. During 2020-21, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, online classes were conducted for 120 girls from two centres.
