Girl Empowerment Mission 2023 Starts at NTPC Talcher Kaniha

The National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) Talcher Kaniha in Odisha, India, has launched the “Girl Empowerment Mission 2023” initiative to promote gender equality and women’s empowerment. The program aims to educate, inspire and empower girls and women by providing them with access to education, health care, and skill development opportunities.

The program was launched on 15 May 2023, and it was attended by various dignitaries and stakeholders from the local community, government, and civil society organizations. The launch event was inaugurated by the Chief Guest, Ms. Smriti Irani, the Union Minister for Women and Child Development, who highlighted the importance of empowering girls and women in achieving sustainable development.

Under this initiative, NTPC Talcher Kaniha has committed to providing scholarships to 1,000 girls from economically disadvantaged backgrounds to pursue their education in various fields such as engineering, medicine, law, and management. In addition, the company will be setting up a vocational training center to provide skill development opportunities for women and girls.

The Girl Empowerment Mission 2023 program will also focus on improving the health and well-being of girls and women by conducting health camps and awareness campaigns on issues such as menstrual hygiene, nutrition, and reproductive health. Furthermore, the initiative aims to create a safe and conducive environment for girls and women by organizing self-defense training and awareness sessions on women’s safety.
